This adapter converts Canon's proprietary "Mini Advanced Shoe" shoe to a universal "cold" shoe. The Canon Vixia HF10 and HF100 camcorders are the only two camcorders known to have the Mini Advanced Shoe.
This adapter tightens down securely, it will not rattle or fall out.
There is no electrical connection made with this adapter, it is a cold shoe mount only. The base of CMS-FLAT stays clear electrical contacts by a wide margin to protect against accidental contact. The shoe mount is aluminum with a powder coated finish.
The black adapters are recommended for the HF10, the silver colored adapters are for the HF100. The recommended color is only for color matching, either adapter will work with either camcorder.
